Is the AI capable of handling a mental health crisis?

Restora Calm's AI is trained to detect crisis signals in real time. When a potential crisis is identified, the system immediately routes the user to a licensed clinician or emergency resource. The AI is not designed to manage crises independently — it serves as a bridge to human care.

What is VERA-MH and why do you use it?

VERA-MH (Validated Evaluation and Risk Assessment for Mental Health) is a proprietary framework we developed to continuously assess user wellbeing. It enables the system to intelligently route care, detect changes in need, and coordinate between AI-guided support and human providers.

How do you ensure the AI doesn't say something harmful?

We employ multiple layers of safety: clinician-reviewed response guidelines, real-time content filtering, sentiment analysis, and human-in-the-loop review for flagged conversations. Our AI safety team, led by experts from Spring Health and NIST, continuously audits and improves guardrails.

Is my data private and secure?
